Starting with layers of blended glazes and wet-in-wet on the canvas, the structure of the landscape comes into play. The challenge for me is to allow the glow of the underpaint and light of the canvas to show through the finished detailing. Almost like watercolor – I build up the layers and illuminate the forms with highlights, pulling details and objects out of the dark.
