My first introduction to North Beach was at Sangan river. A small road with undeveloped building lots, reached almost to the dunes.Lovely winding reaches of sandy banks wraps back and forth until it flattens out into the sea. a brief stretch of grasses and soft sandy dunes rises up from the tide line. the darkness of mossy forest behind.
Miles of sand in either direction – Not a bird or a person in sight. Rain spitting and wind rolling in from the Northwest. they say you can see all the way to Alaska from here…but not today.

and then I look down at my feet at the wildflowers on the dunes.
