Paint out with the locals – Naikoon

thanks to Penny Richardson for the use of her little “stackwood” cabin for the central hub of the days painting. what a great little place. We walked through the thin mossy trees to the open beach and dunes beyond…everyone spreading out in different directions to photograph, paint and sketch. the sun came blasting through after an hour or so. and another fantastic day in haida Gwaii.

a local neighbor coming back from a ride on the beach.

Wild campanulas almong the grass and one of the small isolated fir trees.

9×12 panel …almost finished. there was ground covering of wildflowers, peas, tansy and dandelions. the cliffs and bluffs of the long beach of Naikoon in the distance.
