Day 1 – group paintout at the Mt Hood Winery.
” Moon over Mosier” Winner of the PEOPLE’S CHOICE award
12″x 24″ Acrylic on Canvas
I have been out the last three mornings at about 5am
just next to our stay place on the hill side overlooking Mosier,
painting the moon, clouds and “nocturne” undertones in the growing light.
Just me and the groundsquirrels. Lovely and cool after the hot afternoons.
“Coyote Wall – Syncline” North Side
9″ x 12″ Acrylic on Board
Columbia River Gorge (our view across from Mosier)
“Mosier Mail” Historic Mosier Post Office
6″x 12″ Acrylic on board
Day 2 of the Plein Air event…I stayed in my own neighborhood
and painted in the shade of the church. Chatting with the locals and watching everyone come to post and pick up their mail. I was using the lid of my palette as a wind block…it was blowing a gale. It is the Gorge after all ;-)
“Cascade Locks – Government Cove”
6″x 8″ Acrylic on tinted Panel
painted out at the Cascade Locks (15 miles west of Hood River)
no other artists on site…just one other writer. I set up at the back of the truck to try and hide from the wind. It really is distracting and more than exhausting.
Delivered all x4 framed paintings to the Columbia Arts Center
for the 3 pm event deadline. Fun to look at all the other works coming in.
Working on some pre-tinted 6×8 panel studies
now that the 9×12 & 6×12’s are done for their frames.
A couple more days to explore and check out some great spots.
