JAN POYNTER – studio & painting workshops from Jan 22 to Feb 19 I will be in studio at Zocalo – 441 Marine Dr – right across from our Co-op gallery and next to the Gibsons Public Art Gallery.
My friend Joann Heatherington closes up her wonderful fashion store and flies south every winter for a couple of months. She likes to see the retail space used for creative and community ventures. So from Jan 22 to Feb 19 I will be in “winter” studio at Zocalo – 441 Marine Dr – right across from our Co-op gallery and next to the Gibsons Public Art Gallery.
The intention is to work on drawings and large landscape paintings for my new “Tantalus” series – cloudy and ethereal islands, trees and water – pale monochromes and muted colors. I also have a growing selection of bright new floral paintings & mixed media studies – that feature works like my piece on the cover of the newest Artists of BC Vol 4. Books, paintings, drawings and cards will be on sale.
I will be painting on site, open to the public for certain hours, offer 2 weekend workshops + open studio time for students, and invite local students/youth to visit for planned demo & discussions.
On Thursdays, contemporary artist Motoko will be joining me from her studio in Pender Harbour, and local artists are invited to gather in the afternoon.
OPEN Studio Hours: Thursday – Sunday 3-5 pm.
