its in the details.

Working my way down from standing to sitting on my little stool as the details come to the broad areas of color and the elements start to become more defined. the biggest comment so far is “what is the red for?…”
I use the cool and warm underpainting as part of the fill color (especially in the case of the water) some of it shows, some gets covered up. It helps define the spacial depth between the forground “land” and objects and the distance.
My challenge is trying to keep the detail to a minimum, and just to suggest the forms and light….and getting that eyeball just right on this fellow.
