Gibsons Paint Out – Day 2

Had another artist come all the way from New Westminster (outer suburb of Vancouver) to attend today. Not the turnout I had hoped for – but it is a busy time for folks.

this is in celebration of my new Best Brella .
I used my lightweight easel, with folding chair and new umbrella – all packed in my easy to carry crossover strap bag.
Was great – I could be set-up or packed-up in under 2 minutes. And it worked so well. thank you Best Brella.
Did a quick study here on the new wharf walkway – looking accross to Keats Island, and Howe Sound to the high coast mountains in the distance. The beached sailboat was what what caught my attention.
8×10 with a burnt sienna fluid acrylic on buff gesso – textured panel.
12″ x 12″ canvas with a blue ground
and the “Dolphin Prince” which although a bit tattered for tugging – makes a great model.
I want to spend some time in the studio to get those amazing reflections just right. Too tired in the blazing sun on the dock today.
Bringing all the panels down tomorrow to finish as much as possible on location with the early light.
