COIN designs for the Royal Canadian Mint

Part of my art practice is professional design and illustration work. Since age 17, doing T-shirt designs and logos for sports teams and silkscreen production.

Over the years I have worked for publishers, badge & medallion manufacturers and non-profit organizations from the Boy Scouts to the Cancer Foundation.  I have done conceptual illustration for architects and giftware design & production, maps and educational material.

The culmination or all that fabrication and production experience has served me well. The finale is to have my illustrations produced by the national mint. I am very honoured.

These are the collectable coin designs that have been minted and released so far.

Released in the spring of 2017 – the Preston Lilac coin holds a special place for me. The tree is a hybrid lilac created by Isabelle Preston (the first female canadian horticulturalist)  as a hardy species for our canadian winters. A large tree thrives in my own garden and inspired the coin design and illustration.
Another Preston Lilac was planted in honour of my mother Helen Poynter (nee Yorgan) who passed away shortly after the coin was released. She was so very proud of my achievments and always supported me in my creative adventures.
